Life is always a celebration in San Diego and the Pride Festival embodies a culture of prosperity and acquiescence that's embraced by the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community. The soiree begins with a Human Rights vigil in Balboa Park on Friday evening and will be followed by the 27th annual Stride and Strut Saturday morning. The Pride Festival's signature parade features more than 175 floats and is the largest civic event in the city, drawing more than 50,000 visitors every summer. The parade begins at University Avenue between Normal Street and 6th Avenue, and heads east toward Marston Point in beautiful Balboa Park where the festival will commence through 8pm Sunday night. The 2008 Pride Festival will feature a Wine Steals grotto, Ferris wheel, art, Starbucks coffee terrace, bloody mary brunch and childrens' garden. With so much to see and do, Pride weekend is one of the most memorable events in San Diego and offers something for everyone.
